Among the various divisions of the Federal Parliament Secretariat, the International Relations and Coordination Division is one of the important divisions. The International Relations and Coordination Section operates under this division. While the Division is responsible for policy-level functions relating to the foreign and international affairs of the Federal Parliament and the Secretariat, the International Relations and Coordination Section carries out the operational-level responsibilities.

The primary objective of the Section is to play a cooperative and supportive role in achieving the goals, objectives, and core functions of the Federal Parliament Secretariat and the Federal Parliament as a whole. In particular, the Division is entrusted with the specialized responsibility of serving as a liaison and administrative mechanism for effectively presenting the Federal Parliament in the international community, strengthening parliamentary diplomacy, representing the Parliament in international forums, and expanding relations and cooperation at the international level.

The Division also plays a significant role in organizing and managing the participation of Nepalese parliamentary and foreign delegations in various international programs and activities, thereby ensuring that international engagements are systematic, effective, and result-oriented. Furthermore, the Section bears important responsibility as an administrative mechanism for promoting and expanding parliamentary diplomacy of the Federal Parliament of Nepal at the international level, and for establishing, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government of Nepal, relations with global and international organizations as well as diplomatic missions and embassies of friendly countries, while managing coordination and cooperation with them.

The major responsibilities of the Section include matters relating to recommendations for diplomatic passports and verbal notes, management of courtesy meetings, coordination and management of parliamentary delegation visits, and functioning as the secretariat of parliamentary friendship groups.
